Silent Colonialism
La Sur Real presents ‘Colonialismo Silencioso’ (Silent Colonialism), a space for dialogue in which three short documentaries analyse projects related to mining and extractivism.
El Cerrejón coal mine in Colombia, lithium mining in Chile, and the Mayan Train Project in Mexico, will approach these cases from a decolonial perspective to problematize the power relations between the North and the Global South, taking a historical journey from the time of colonization of AbyaYala (Latin America) to the present: Globalization, the commodification of nature, and its relationship to climate change, revealing that these ecocidal and ethnocidal power relations between the Global North and South are still in effect.
